The Salvation Army Program Aide (Part-time) - Barnabas Center Outreach in Syracuse, New York

The Salvation Army is hiring! We are seeking individuals with a passion for helping others, and a desire to do the most good in their own community.

The Barnabas Outreach Center has an immediate opening for a part-time Program Aide to work 15 hours/week, 5:00pm-8:00pm Monday through Friday.

This position will develop and implement programs for at-risk youth attending the Barnabas Drop-In Center. Additionally the Program Aide will visit organizations, agencies, and schools in the community to conduct education and street outreach.

Responsibilities
Interact with program youth through one-on-one activities and group activities while providing a safe and positive environment in the Drop-In Center and the Street Outreach Van.
Assist with supervision for youth leaders assigned to work in the Drop-In Center and other work site locations.
Act as a role model and mentor. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for the youth participants.
Keep accurate attendance records of youth participating in daily activities and street outreach contacts.
Assess needs of youth participants and make referrals for other services as needed or for youth experiencing an immediate crisis, both in the Drop-In Center and the Street Outreach Van.
Input youth data into the HMIS System, as required.
Attend program staff meetings; provide input on program improvement.
Maintain the Drop-In Center environment and Street Outreach van with light cleaning and household maintenance.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must have minimum of one year of experience working with adolescents or young adults. Experience working with youth in recreational/social/street setting is desired.
Ability to supervise and interact with youth simultaneously.
Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
