Housekeeping is a physically demanding job. The housekeepers are required to maintain good health as most of the tasks involve physical work where they are needed to stand, walk, lift, and bend throughout their shifts. Besides, they are expected to maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming while adhering to the working principles and policies set up by the employee handbook.
Some of the typical responsibilities include sweeping, making beds, vacuum cleaning, washing, polishing, and dusting as appropriate apart from the laundry duties such as washing, sluicing, drying, ironing, sorting, and folding. This actions are to be carried out across the entire property, public spaces and guest rooms, including outside areas (porches etc).
Housekeeping Job Responsibilities:
Clean rooms, restrooms, lounges, corridors, hallways, stairways, porches and other work spaces of the organization while keeping the prescribed health and hygiene standards.
Ensure perfect working of the tools and equipment employed to execute high quality work .
Replenish cleaning supplies, restroom equipment, bed linens, kitchen items, room toiletries and other items in rooms and designated storage areas.
Work cohesively with other team members including front desk to ensure proper communication of needs of guests and property are executed. Understand working hours of restaurants and duties needed to clean.
Monitor the security of customers' and property belongings and safety of the delegated areas by sincerely conducting the regular checks. Besides, reporting found articles, thefts, including construction and electrical damages and any other maintenance needs to front desk.
Report to the supervisors and promptly respond to the housekeeping needs .
Communicate effectively and politely with all guests acting as brand ambassador.
Adhere to employee manual at all times including uniform and aesthetic standards.
Have firm understanding of hotel policies as pertain to room and be able to articulate any issues.
Ensure superior housekeeping standards in all customer areas including the back of house spaces.
* Though no formal education is required, we prefer at least a high school education.
* On-the-job training or minimum work experience especially in customer service is a plus.
* Reliable Transportation (that is also suitable for winter).
* Proven ability and track record of team mentality.
* Able to communicate politely and professionally with the customers and other members of the team.
* Physically fit as the job involves a lot of manual labor work .
* Agile and efficient, able to work quickly but thoroughly.
* Ability to follow instructions.
* Attention to detail.
* Capable of working on weekends and holidays as to meet needs of hotel.
* Able to speak and understand English fluently.
* Ability to prioritize to adjust to needs of business.
Days and Hours will vary, with overtime as needed. Pay starts at $11 per hour, negotiable based on experience.
