Would you enjoy working closely under other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design? Parsons is now hiring a SeniorDesigner for our rapidly expanding transportation project located in New York City

Parsons extensive experience in this field combined with your knowledge and developing technical skills will propel your career forward. We need our Designers at this level typically takes engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalizes them into working drawings.

In this role you will develop moderately-difficult to difficult working drawings from equipment specifications, engineering notes, sketches, and/or detailed drawings, ensuring that they meet company and industry standards and codes.Our Designers understand the materials and methods normally used within the assigned discipline.

Responsibilities:

Completes thedifficult designs and layouts for complete systems and components of a project. Assignments typically involve design elements for which there may be no clearly established precedents and require anticipation of problems at the outset in order to provide appropriate solutions.

Performs front-end layout and design of complex systems and equipment applicable to the respective discipline.

Ensures compliance with required specifications, tolerances, safety factors, and client requirements.

Performs specialized design computations and analysis within a given discipline.

Performs interdisciplinary reviews and provides coordination of data to ensure a compatible design.

Understands and applies commonly used company design standards and methods. May assist in the establishment or revision of guidelines and standards.

Reviews supplier data and supplier/manufacturer drawings, as required.

Checks orthographic (2D) and isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others. May provide direction to a team of checking personnel, ensuring the mathematical accuracy of the drawings produced.

Collaborates with Engineers and other engineering disciplines to ensure quality of design.

Assists in training lower-level Designers in various procedures.

Qualifications :

  • 2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent)

  • 8+ years of relevant experience.

  • PC literacy, proficiency in utilizing CAD

  • Working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments
