About the Team

The Japanese Corporates Group is primarily responsible for supporting Japanese corporate clients doing business in the Americas. The group seeks to enhance MHCB’s global relationships with existing Japanese corporate clients and to target new Japanese clients through their subsidiary and affiliate companies located in the Americas. Members also work with clients of Mizuho Bank, which has strong relationships with many small- and medium-sized companies in Japan.


The main responsibility will be to ensure compliance with US & JAPAN law/regulation and Bank’s compliance policies. Focus is on Japanese Corporate clients. Punctual reporting to the Head Office is very critical for the position.

This will also be the key person of the division in terms of Information Control requirement.


1) Administrative:

Engage in the following duties and responsibilities, but not limited to,

  • Japan & US Law : Understand detailed HO/US local requirements as to various Japan/US Law and reply to staff questions. Conduct required training for division staff. Make periodic HO reporting for various Japan Law on timely manner.

  • Information Control : Maintain log for Important Information, non-public information, information devices, etc. Conduct required training for JNAB/ACBD#1 staff. Coordinate any HO required activities and report the results to HO on timely manner.

  • Check HO Bulletin Board: Look into HO Bulletin Board every morning. Share compliance/information control related information with division staff if necessary. Maintain/Improve departmental manual as to Information Control.

  • CSA (Controlled Self Assessment) : Responsible for planning and reporting as to CSA activities representing ACBD#1.

  • Operational Error / Incidents report: Keep log of OP TRACKY reports for the division. Follow up remedial action(s).

  • CS reports: Make periodic “CS Report” reporting to HO.

  • Authorization : Keep division’s application most updated as to the Authorization.

  • Entertainment/Gifts: Support BPU from HOP perspective in order to be in compliance with HO requirement.

  • Compliance Testing: Coordination for ALCD compliance testing.

  • Others: Responsible for occasional assignments instructed by UH.

  • Operation & Compliance Meeting: Support UH to initiate the departmental monthly meeting focusing on Operation, Compliance, Credit Control, etc.

2) Policy

  • Review applicable IOP.

3) Technical Skills Required:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skill in both English and Japanese.

  • Analytical and multi-task skills.

  • Interpersonal skill.

  • MS Office applications


  • Bachelor or higher degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Economic required.

  • Minimum 3 years banking experience required

  • Japanese/English Bilingual

  • Occasional overtime
