This role is for a strong server-side core Java developer working on a Front Office pricing, risk and p&l application within the Liquid Products Technology group. The application currently supports the interest rate swaps and treasure businesses. The goal is to create a service oriented architecture with a new UI to offer pricing, risk and p&l within a cohesive framework, reducing the desks dependency both on Microsoft Excel and legacy platforms.
The candidate will have the opportunity to both develop business facing solutions and to put engineering expertise to use advancing the framework used by 20+ developers. The role offers the opportunity to interface directly with Front Office stakeholders including traders where required. Learning how users use the system and their workflow is a requirement for success in this role.
The candidate should have solid communication skills and be a good team player who can interface with business analysts, management, and other technology groups. This is a hands-on position which will involve 80% development and 20% production support role. Understand and translate business needs into technical requirements and implementations. Must be willing to participate in all aspects of software life cycle including analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance. The team operates in an Agile manner and the ability to clearly communicate updates to peers and management during daily standups is a requirement. The team uses Computer Associates Agile Central as a work planning and tracking tool. The candidate will be expected to clearly represent tasks in this tool.
Good organizational skills and a willingness to participate in such transparency are also requirements of the role. The candidate will be expected to ensure comprehensive unit test coverage, recommend and implement solutions, participate in and conduct code review sessions, and provide process improvements. The candidate will additionally be expected to provide hands on technical support, advice, and consultation with open issues relating to supported applications plus assure quality, performance, security, and compliance with enterprise standards for those application platforms.
Capital markets knowledge including trade life cycle, specific interest rate derivatives knowledge and any other knowledge is a plus but not a requirement. There will be opportunities to learn on the job. Non-negotiable requirements are being a strong server-side Java developer and team player.
5+ years of application development and implementation experience
5+ years of Core Java experience
3+ years of multi-threading experience
2+ years of Linux experience
Knowledge of Git or comparable source code control system and best practices for multi-developer software development
Experience with pub/sub messaging / JMS
Experience writing unit test cases
Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively
Practiced with Agile development methodologies
Ability to learn new skills
Proven problem solver
