Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Internal Communications, the Communications Assistant Vice President is responsible for designing, creating, and delivering communications materials and programs to support the culture, engagement and programming of CIT.

The communications manager will work within the communications and marketing team with strong collaboration with functional partners (Human Resources, Risk, Compliance, Technology and Operations).

Essential Functions and Work Responsibilities

Functional Category: Writing

Estimated Percent of time Spent – 50%

  • Write content to be specific to audiences and reflective and supportive of company goals

  • Identify story and content ideas for various internal audiences

  • Primary writer for company intranet site.

  • Use expertise to review and edit written materials in adherence with corporate brand standards and AP style

  • Assist in developing multi-media content, including videos, PowerPoints, and more

Functional Category: Project Management

Estimated Percent of time Spent – 30%

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Set and manage content editorial calendars

  • Provide strategic communications consultation to other departments or teams

  • Coordinate with internal subject matter experts

  • Work collaboratively with communications/marketing colleagues and other departments to contribute to the development of fully integrated communications. Project like: Articles for intranet; all-employee emails, all-employee town halls and smaller leadership meetings.

  • Help promote uniformity and consistency of brand.

  • Represent Internal Communications on various cross-functional project committees.

  • Monitor the defined success measures of each project to manage communications strategies to targeted performance

  • Generate and maintain status reports for projects

  • Manage budget and time to meet deadlines and timelines

  • Implement projects within determined timelines and budgets

  • Other duties as assigned

Functional Category: Research

Estimated Percent of time Spent – 20%

  • Research content to be specific to audiences and reflective and supportive of company goals.

  • Identify employees, leaders, and/or participants (in coordination with other colleagues) to profile, interview, highlight, or otherwise showcase in various communications projects.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to understand operational and business goals that can be supported through strategic communications initiatives.

  • Research opportunities which highlight expertise with target audiences




  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in communications, journalism, marketing, or advertising.

    Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Approximately five (5) years of experience in communications with exposure to developing and leading strategies and content for both internal and external audiences.

  • Proven writing skills for generating communications content for newsletters, emails, bylined articles, news releases, fact sheets, blog posts, websites, letters, etc.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Adobe Photoshop

  • Proven, exceptional project management skills. Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and responsibilities at the same time.

  • Experience with and strong knowledge of AP Style.


Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience with Adobe design suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)

  • Experience in financial services

  • Organized, detail-oriented, diplomatic, proactive, self-motivated, dependable, highly collaborative and driven by excellence.

  • Even-tempered and able to balance multiple tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
