Landscape Architecture Lecturer

Position Function:

The position requires the candidate to have teaching and/or professional practice experience in contemporary design, and planting design in particular. Knowledge of plant material and current planting techniques is required with expertise in ecological infrastructure practices such as bioretention, green roofs, and living walls preferred. Courses will be taught to both undergraduates and graduate students for the plants and design course and studios. The position is a nine-month appointment beginning August 16, 2018 through May 15, 2019.

Anticipated Division of Time:

The lecturer will be responsible for four courses. This includes two graduate or undergraduate studios that meet for 3 half days each week during the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters respectively. The plants and design courses will meet for two half days each week for both fall and spring semesters.


The lecturer must have at least one professional degree in Landscape Architecture, preferably a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA). Prior teaching experience is desirable but not required. The chosen candidate must have the ability to work with a diverse group of students. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Supervision Exercised:

The lecturer will not have formal advises assigned to them. However, students will expect to get informal advice on job searches and internship opportunities. Provide students with clarification on assignments, exams, and grading.
