Accountable for supporting the Colgate mission by analyzing needs, providing technical guidance, helping with process improvement, and recommending and implementing solutions for academic and administrative areas of the university. Responsible for optimizing the user experience of assigned software and systems, developing sustainable interfaces and developing in-house solutions when appropriate.
-Using Java, PLSQL, SQL, Linux and Windows scripting and other programming and scripting languages, develop custom enterprise software solutions, system integrations and interfaces where necessary and appropriate.
-Perform software testing, including error handling. Develop user guides and training documentation.
-Gather requirements and assess functional needs to help improve processes. Provide technical consultation on processes and systems. Translate end user behavior into recommended improvements in features and functionality.
-Provide Database Administration for assigned systems, including Oracle and SQL Server.
-Following generally accepted practices in programming and software development, develop system interfaces and system integrations.
-Research and consider hosted and SaaS solutions. Evaluate vendor solutions to ensure compliance with requirements and cost-effectiveness.
-Work with software vendors to resolve problems and develop solutions.
-Design, create and manage database structures for development, testing and production.
-Effectively communicate with customers in an appropriate level of detail.
-Assist ITS in the development of best practices and actively engage in improving ITS and its processes
-Participate in professional development activities.
-Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

|Professional Experience/ Qualifications|
Three or more years of professional experience in related duties, with an earned Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a related degree preferred, or equivalent additional professional experience in essential duties and responsibilities.
Appointment at the senior level requires: Seven or more years of professional experience in related duties, with an earned Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a related degree preferred, or equivalent additional professional experience in essential duties and responsibilities.

|Special Instructions Summary|
The level of appointment will be based on the years of experience and demonstrated competencies of the successful candidate.
Normal schedule is daily, Monday through Friday concurrent with the business hours of the office. Adjustments to the normal schedule to accommodate evening, overnight, weekend and holiday work as required for system and service maintenance and upgrades.
