Position Summary:The Program Director, Family Support Services, has the decision-making responsibility regarding resource utilization, including staffs, which support maximization of services and billings. Oversee the operations of the Family Support Department and ensure services are delivered in a fiscally appropriate manner, as well as in response to the expressed needs of individuals and families. At the present time, the Director of Family Support oversees the following programs: Medicaid Service Coordination in Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan; Community Habilitation in Queens; Hourly Respite in Queens; Family Reimbursement in Queens; Family Reimbursement in Brooklyn. New programs will be added in the future.

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Supervise a staff of up to Six Coordinators, who in turn supervise their own units of personnel, in regard to their job performance and provide them with the support needed to maximize their performance.

  • Ensure Medicaid standards are met and that all programs are in compliance with regulations, no matter their source of funding.

  • Ensure services are appropriate and meet standards for quality and are in compliance with all regulations. Ensure that all program plans provide opportunities that enhance each persons social responsibility, independence, dignity and continued growth.

  • Set reasonable standards and objectives for department and ensure actions are taken to obtain them.

  • Ensure staff has the information, materials and supports needed to meet standards and objectives.

  • Evaluate performance of individuals based on observation, documentation, and analysis of information.

  • Participate in the development of new service initiatives.

  • Provide Deputy Director of Family Support DD Services with information regarding the performance of department in a manner and frequency as requested.

  • Maintain positive relations with other provider agencies.

  • Represent agency at inter-agency meetings and conferences.

  • Recruit, interview and recommend staff for hiring.

  • Ensure billings, payroll and petty cash are completed in an appropriate and timely manner.

  • Act as liaison during internal and external audits.

  • Support new program initiatives through research and written reports as requested.

  • Propose operational procedures consistent with regulations.

  • Respond to audits with written plans of correction.

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Other duties as requested.


Bachelors degree required, Masters Degree in Human Services preferred and at least, three years in progressively more responsible supervisory and administrative positions.
