Ann Inc Assistant Manager - Print Production & Color in Ann Taylor Stores, New York

The Assistant Manager, Print & Color assists in developing seasonal, trend-right & on-brand printed fabric.


• Collaborate with CAD team on feasibility of artwork, layout of placement or engineered prints, and format of production-ready files

• Prepare and submit print packages via email, web upload and mail

• Maintain a current and organized print chart detailing specs and status of all developments

• Communicate daily with overseas suppliers, internal brand teams and mills on execution of print color, layout and technique

• Troubleshoot possible color-matching or engraving problems by providing clear notes/feedback in industry terminology

• Execute tasks in accordance with timelines and provide timely/creative solutions for urgent issues

• Keep workload organized and moving forward as milestones for multiple seasons occur simultaneously

• Assist team leader in establishing policies and procedures to ensure the best product is delivered within the given time & action calendar

• Attend weekly CFT meetings to align with cross-functional partners on print development needs

• Maintain print development archives (storing sample yardage, archiving binders of approvals, etc)

• Assist in the creation of seasonal color standards (naming, ordering, etc)

• Assist team members with Color and CAD tasks when workload is heavy (matching colors in NedGraphics, preparing color palettes, etc)

• Attend CAD training classes and seminars

• Work closely with Print & Color leadership team to ensure level of sophistication and quality of work are to expectations


• Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Product Development, Fashion Business, or equivalent

• 2-3 years experience in product development

• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Ned Graphics)

• Strong communication skills

• Excellent eye for color

• Highly organized and has capacity to react to change

• In depth knowledge of print methods and specifications, inclusive of specialty processes, screen types, repeat sizes, and general industry limitations

• Ability to understand garment construction in order to visualize layouts for placed/engineered prints

• General expertise of fabric constructions/fibers and how each takes print

• Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and divisions

• Awareness of printed textile development--from conceptualization to finished goods

• Ability to process general information (i.e., business meetings) and relate to big picture
