Upstate Cerebral Palsy School Aide CRP in Utica, New York


Responsible to assist the teacher in coordinating classroom activities, participate in classroom maintenance and personal care, assist in training new aides, assume duties of lunch/float aide and to assist the therapist in carrying out goals.


  • Provide assistance in coordinating individual and group activities in the classroom in line with IEP goals and plans; act as back-up in the absence of the teacher.

  • Participate in classroom maintenance, field trips, feeding and assist in toileting.

  • Assist and orient in training new aides.

  • Assume the duties of lunch/float aide.

  • Assist therapist in carrying out therapy goals.

  • Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and Agency regulations and operating standards.

  • educational Requirements/ Qualifications/ experience:

  • High School Degree or equivalent.

  • Basic Computer Skills (Adobe Acrobat, Word, Groupwise 5.5)


  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.


  • This position does regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is not required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OMRDD (Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities) or OMH (Office of Mental Health).

  • All jobs have OSHA Classification, including those with no exposure to Hazards. OSHA Work Class D


  • Must have full sight and hearing with fluency in the English language. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising work-flow and efficiency.

  • May have to lift up to 60 lbs. and maybe exposed to hazardous health conditions and / or verbal or physical aggression as well as provide direct care of consumers requiring visual and auditory monitoring, as well as direct hygienic care of consumers.
