We are currently recruiting for aSystems Network Administrator.

Maintain and Administrate IT infrastructure including hardware, network(s), servers, user workstations, mobile devices, internet applications, and phone systems.

Under the direction of the Director of Technology and Systems:

Network Maintenance

  • Support Microsoft based network with AD, including Exchange, SharePoint, Skype for Business, Windows Desktop, vSphere, VDI, Lifesize, MEDENT, ScriptPro

  • Designs and supports VoIP and analog/digital telephone system.

  • Install and support LANs, WANs, VLANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.

  • Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendors.

  • Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control and evaluation; develops and maintains documentation.

  • Supports a team approach which facilitates the attainment of agency and Information Technology Department goals and objectives.

  • Follow best practices for security following requirements of PCI and HIPAA compliance.

  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure and virtual environments.

  • Assists in managing network security, desktop security, anti-virus solutions and email filtering solutions.

  • Administer and maintain firewalls, wireless access points, switches and other hardware.

  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.

  • Maintain network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems.

  • Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, personal digital assistants, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches.

    Server Maintenance

  • Maintains Inventory of all physical and virtual servers

  • Develops and maintains installation and configurations procedures

  • Keeps maintenance logs

  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.

  • Apply software patches as necessary: e-MDs, AIRs, SNAP and other centralized software.

  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures

  • Manage DNS, email and website servers and services.

  • Ensure all interfaces between internal and external services remain operational.

  • Analyze, troubleshoot and quickly resolve system hardware and software issues.

  • Configure and maintain system standards

Operations Support

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.

  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.

  • Performs regular backup, updates and restore testing of all IT equipment in preparation for disaster recovery.

  • Provide Level 2/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.

  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.

  • Plan and manage an information technology infrastructure capable of supporting staff in all aspects of administration and care delivery.


  • Requires the ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, races, sexual orientations and gender identities or expressions.

  • Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all patient, client, proprietary, and protected information.

  • Employees are accountable for meeting performance standards of their departments. They participate in compliance audits and quality improvement plans.

  • Ensure compliance with agency Policies and Guidelines

  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA, HiTECH and NYS Article 29.


Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or Information Technology (or related field) preferred. 4 to 6 years systems administration experience required and at least 5 years of desktop and technical support experience. Strong understanding of Windows network environment, group policy, and organizational units. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Demonstrated aptitude towards learning new technologies. Experienced with Windows Platform and related technologies, wireless networking, network/computer configuration, data backup and system security. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and resources. Experience in a healthcare environment is a plus.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend and lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
