          STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP
          THE MAXWELL SCHOOL OF CITIZENSHIP AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS, SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY

          The Department of Public Administration and International Affairs in Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs seeks a leading scholar to fill the Howard G. and S. Louise Phanstiel Chair in Strategic Management and Leadership.

          The Phanstiel Chair will bring to the Maxwell School expertise, intellectual guidance, and quality scholarship and teaching in the areas of public leadership and management. The appointee will articulate and implement a vision for the Chair and its role at the Maxwell School that promotes strategic management and leadership through research, graduate teaching, and service. We are open to a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds, but are particularly interested in applicants who explore leadership, management, and performance in contexts that require collaboration across organizational, sectoral, and jurisdictional boundaries. The successful candidate should be committed to preparing the next generation of public service leaders; have the capacity to maximize impact through effective use of resources; collaborate and network effectively across boundaries; be willing and able to teach and mentor Masters and Doctoral students; and hold a terminal advanced degree in a relevant discipline.

          Initial consideration of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The appointee will assume the position in the Fall of 2013.
