Engineering & Construction client near Pearl River, NY is looking for a Sr. Project Controls Specialist with 10-20+ years of experience in project scheduling, cost analysis & earned value management (EVM) supporting heavy industrial EPC projects. The ideal candidate will have specific project controls experience supporting large T&D or Electrical Substation EPC projects. Client prefers candidates that are local to this area.

Responsibilities for the Project Controls Engineer

  • Perform project controls work on Electric Utility related EPC projects, including planning, estimating, forecasting, scheduling, cost control, schedule control, and project reports

  • You will focus a large portion of your time implementing EVM processes and associated software for project management and project controls purposes

  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts

  • Develop complex project schedules working with functional leads and Project Managers

  • Cost-load the schedule at a reasonable level of detail to produce cash flow for the project

  • Maintain this schedule throughout the project lifecycle via feedback from the internal project team as well as input from Contractor and Vendor schedules

  • Identify critical and near-critical paths as well as trends to help project team stay on track.

Requirements for the Project Controls Engineer

  • 10-20+ years of cost engineering & project scheduling experience supporting heavy industrial Construction projects

  • The ideal candidate has some experience supporting Transmission Line or Electrical Substation (maybe Power Plant) EPC projects

  • You must be very experienced with Earned Value Management (EVM) as this will be a big portion of your job

  • Implement EVM processes and associated software for project management and project controls purposes

  • Proficient with creating and maintaining schedules in Primavera P6 software

  • BS degree (preferably in Construction or Engineering) is needed

  • In depth understanding with Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling

  • Must be able to cost load the schedule with detail in order to produce cash flow reporting
