ColumbiaDoctors is one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the northeast and is affiliated with world renowned Columbia University Medical Center and New York-Presbyterian Hospital. ColumbiaDoctors is currently looking for a Revenue Cycle Analyst to work in its central business office located in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Revenue Cycle Operations, the CRO Revenue Cycle Analyst is responsible for providing strong analytic assessments, reporting and operational support on all aspects of revenue cycle operations in a central business office as well as for the clinical departments within ColumbiaDoctors.

Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.

  • Demonstrated skills in A/R Management, problem assessment, resolution and collaborative problem solving in a complex and interdisciplinary settings.

  • Experience in data extractions (Data Warehouse Tools) and analysis role.

  • GE/IDX system experience: knowledge of electronic billing systems for front end and back end functions and the willingness to learn new systems, applications and programs.

  • Proficiency in health insurance billing, collections and eligibility as it pertains to commercial, managed care, government and self-pay reimbursement concepts and overall operational impact.

  • Ability work independently and follow through and handle multiple tasks/special projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. This position requires the ability to interact positively and constructively with employees, professional staff, community representatives and carriers.

  • Must be a motivated individual with a positive and exception work ethic.

  • Ability to educate and train at all levels of professional staff.

Special Instructions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Applications (i.e. Excel, Word and Power Point), GE/IDX, DBMS, Experian, and Cognos

  • Ability to speak second language.

Essential Functions

  1. Monitor ongoing performance of Revenue Cycle results through use of key operating indicators (KOI).

  2. Identify revenue cycle trends to determine root causes and potential improvement opportunities.

  3. Develop and implement policies and best practices associated with operations, billing, collection, patient access and other workflows to improve revenue cycle performance.

  4. Proficiency in healthcare and payer guidelines as it pertains to billing, reimbursement and securing visits as well as of the overall operational impact to the clinical departments.

  5. Review physician charge patterns to identify utilization trends and variances as well as denial analysis to maximize collections and reduce reoccurring billing errors.

  6. Advise management on matters pertinent to interruptions to operations as well as participate in periodic program evaluations. Recommends enhancements and remedial efforts.

  7. Represents the FPO at committees, task forces and/or revenue cycle work groups. Seeks and coordinates solutions to complex problems with the appropriate departments and/or vendors.

  8. Prepares reports and presentations for departmental and central administration leadership.

  9. Interact with staff to educate and train on new processes and protocols.

  10. Stays current through appropriate journals and personal contacts of such developments in the industry as may increase the effectiveness of operations.

  11. Ensures service excellence by becoming thoroughly familiar with the Six Principals of Behavior and putting them into practice in carrying out job responsibilities and in all interactions with patients, staff and visitors.

  12. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Revenue Cycle Office and Directors of the CRO.

  13. Conforms to all applicable HIPAA, Billing Compliance and safety policies and guidelines.
