Leviton Manager, Supply Planning in Melville, New York

Job Description

This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of finished goods and component requirements related to Bill of Material items. The primary responsibilities involve ensuring proper requirements to support inventory strategies with the combined goal of proper cash flow management, inventory management and service level management. Responsibilities include working directly with Demand Planning, Product Management, Sourcing, Customer Service and manufacturing personnel to bring strategy to execution.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Develop inventory strategies as appropriate with Business Unit goals and objectives
  2. Ensure inventory strategies and parameters are appropriate to yield desired service levels and inventory levels
  3. Communicate inventory strategies to Demand Planning to ensure appropriate demand planning methods are used
  4. Develop and support various inventory strategies to support operational objectives
  5. Analyze and report inventory data with identification of exceptions and opportunities
  6. Track and report supply (manufacturing and purchasing) planning against requirements
  7. Track and report supply (manufacturing and purchasing) execution against plan
  8. Project future impact of changes to inventory strategies
  9. Provide periodic reports to management as directed
  10. Ensure timely disposition and execution of discontinued inventory
  11. Immediately advise executive management team of any issues that may impact service to our customer

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Participate as a team member and team leader of Interdepartmental teams
  2. Maintain high levels of expertise in the areas of life cycle, inventory management and manufacturing process
  3. Prepare and maintain guidelines and procedures in an ISO 9001 environment

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Supply Chain or Business Administration (Master’s degree preferred)
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience, working in a complex manufacturing environments (e.g. Electro/Mechanical fabrication)
  • APICS Certifications and/or well versed in Lean Six Sigma business methodologies

Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be business savvy
  • Must have effective communication skills (verbal / written)
  • Must have the ability to work well and be effective with remote resources (conference calls)
  • Must posses an understanding of basic inventory concepts such as fill rate, forecast accuracy, inventory turns, safety stock, EOQ, etc.
  • Must have a working knowledge Oracle’s manufacturing modules
  • Must be familiar with Demand Planning / Forecasting tools, techniques and best practices
  • Must be well versed in Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint, Word, Acess etc. Microsfot SQL Server a plus.
  • Must be highly competent in the use of Excel, including macros and VBA
  • Must show awareness of practical applications of basic statistics
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision
  • Must be able to independently assess information and make decisions with minimal guidance
