As a member of the Support Services team, the Credit Card Specialst/Administrator is responsible for the day to day administration of the credit card programs for both consumer and business by promoting, issuing and reconciling credit cards to members. This position reports to the Support Services Manager.


  • Data analytics and reporting as necessary to analyze portfolio and as needed;
  • Acts as liaison with vendor on all administrative matters, contract issues, and operational functions;
  • Resolves member complaints, vendor issues, etc. as needed;
  • Promotes product and prepares training, promos, etc. for Member Services;
  • Reconciles activity for the credit union;
  • Processes chargebacks with vendor;
  • Daily review of qualified credit card applications before submission to third party vendor;
  • Daily review of V3 report, application for joint owner with different address, MLA covered borrowers, vendor reports, and core processor interface reports;
  • Daily verification of new account disclosures;
  • Daily completion of member services requests for credit line increases, account closures, payment reversals, fee reversals, balance consolidations, lost or stolen cards, credit balance refunds, adding an authorized user;
  • Process return ACH payments;
  • Monitors member activity in regards to credit card usage and identifies risks for fraudulent activity and identity theft; collaborates with the Risk Management department;
  • Reviews risks associated with portfolio and recommends ways to minimize risk to the organization;
  • Blocks compromised, stolen or lost cards; reissues cards for members;
  • Investigates and processes fraud claims and disputes;
  • Reviews MasterCard invoices weekly and vendor invoices monthly;
  • Monthly review of End of Month reports from vendors;
  • Monthly review of plastic card and paper disclosure inventory;
  • Quarterly submit rewards program data to vendor;
  • Maintains business relationships with card services and payment processing vendors;
  • Monthly reporting for President's report ;
  • Manage changes in the Prime Rate with vendor;
  • Generates plastic card activity reports to various departments;
  • Budget all expenses related to credit card activities;
  • Submit annual forms with vendor;

Essential Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of credit card regulations and compliance procedures, including those set by MasterCard and federal and state authorities;
  • Demonstrated computer and software skills;
  • Demonstrated skill in member/customer service;
  • Skill with conflict resolution;
  • Ability to communicate successfully with members and outside parties;
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and articulately both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to exercise tact and responsibility with handling confidential information;
  • Knowledge of the credit union's core operating system and support systems;
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and electronic delivery systems;
  • Familiarity with plastic card fraud and risk trends;
  • Demonstrated computer and software skills;
  • Skill with independent problem-solving;
  • Intermediate mathematical and accounting skills;
  • Ability to communicate and relate plastic card information to members and other staff;
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines;

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three years of plastic card administration, account operations, or risk/fraud experience in financial institution. Candidates with direct experience in a credit union environment, and demonstrated knowledge of credit card operations, credit union policies and compliance in the area of credit cards are preferred.
