Through a variety of distribution partnerships, a developer community, and select software enablers this role will be responsible for building the platform on which these partnerships will interact with Citi and a slate of strategic partnerships that will define our future of becoming an Open Bank.This critical role will lead the way forward in how Citi’s interacts with the external world, will be a culture carrier, and will be responsible for developing, scaling and elevating our Enterprise Open Banking to harness and maximize our capabilities to drive forward our innovation agenda towards new vectors of growth.

General Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Build the model: Build and Enterprise cross-functional interaction model between Citi FinTech, Global digital teams as well as CIO and CTO functions. Devise frameworks/processes/plans to drive the strategy and execution across the Open Banking three core initiatives; Developer Hub, API Development, Business Acceleration

  • Set the direction: Define the incubation program vision and strategy, and work with members of cross-functional teams to execute on that vision. Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities in the program as well as to further education and support for the ambitious program.

  • Measure Success: Set a clear definition of success that meets the strategic goals of the business. Set up metrics and goals to ensure progress, and ensure the team delivers on those goals

  • Constantly Improve: Assess cross-project impacts, constantly looking for areas of opportunity and efficiency, and take steps to resolve issues, particularly those standing in the way of progress, escalating when appropriate

  • Evangelize: Serve as an accelerator for change, and evangelist of innovation and new ways of thinking and doing

  • Define new revenue streams in partnerships Executive Sponsors and CFO

Specific Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Drive the Global Enterprise Open Banking business vision based on customer needs, stand-up global team, and operationalizing the back-office and business operations of a new line of business, Citi global developer hub. •Lead a global strategy around key strategic partnerships in select verticals, which will inform and define the open banking roadmap; including acting product lead for strategic white label offerings.•Attract and support developers and partners with a customized, secure online API Portal. Quickly onboard partners and establish active social channels with them for communicating with the community, understanding feedback and prioritizing needs. Help developers find the right API, make API provisioning and key management a snap and walk developers through a simple process with easy to understand approvals for getting access to APIs.•Develop new business models and pursue new vectors of growth through co-creation of new economics with Chief Financial Officer, External Partners, and Internal Regional Leaders.•The “product” will be single common portal that can be easily branded and maintained to that App developers can easily find, consume, and get support for the APIs that are seeking. Partner with the engineering team, define develop and deliver compelling content, tools, and how-to guides. •Establish listening channels to gather feedback across a broad range of developer and partnership communities, to drive awareness, acquisition, and adoption of our Open Banking products and services.•Create customized packages and tailored plans for partners and developers to consume your APIs, license them accordingly, and maximize revenue based on usage. Create different service-levels (i.e. Platinum, Silver, Bronze) and guide partners gradually through the levels. •Strive for realizing an aggressive ambition for operational effectiveness through the reduction of effort involved in publishing and authoring API development and documents within clear governance boundaries. Support multiple countries with multi-language support and a test console / environment for developers to test the APIs..Lead the advancement in a progressive governance stance redefining processes in partnership with control partners, with adherence to internal technology agenda, and external regulatory policies. Active spokes person, leading the efforts to ensure our presence at conferences and other events to engage with the community. Besides the efforts of the Developer Relations on the ground, you will shape and execute a broader awareness program that could include hosting meet-ups, workshops, webinars/office hours and other standalone online initiatives, both organized by our team but also eventually, by our external community.Enable a community with discussions, tickets, alerts, reviews and ratings on and off Citi properties that will drive awareness, acquisition, and adoption of Citi APIs. Implement new incident management and response tactics in support of a dynamic 24X7 community; inclusive of operating and business performance metrics.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Strong engineering background with experience building global platforms at scale

  • CSI Degree required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred

  • Experience leading multi-discipline, highly matrix global teams across product, technology, design and operations

  • Minimum 20 years experience in senior management roles, ideally gained in a high-growth organization, providing financial transactions and services

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment in a context of profound cultural and industry change

  • Proven stakeholder management effectiveness

  • Proven ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment as a culture carrier and change agent

  • Previous management experience in a role that required that collaboration, influencing and trust building among peers and executives to meet corporate objectives

  • Proven ability to operate simultaneously as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker; willingness to roll up sleeves to deliver against the objectives

  • Experience with strategy development, program management & operational excellence

  • Knowledge of financial controls and a broad understanding of business drivers and strategies

  • Demonstrated passion for digital products/emerging technology and how they will impact the consumer experience
