UPMC Network Hardware Analyst - Temporary in Jamestown, New York
Purpose:Develops processes for the department to operate efficiently and effectively; must understand the requirements needed to analyze and resolve technical problems associated with established data networks; plan, test, recommend and implement network, file server, and workstation hardware and software. Responsibilities:
-Works with IT Management to develop processes for the department to operate effectively and efficiently. -Consult with users and other team members to evaluate requirements, recommend designs, provide cost analysis, plan projects, and coordinate tasks for installation of data networks and services for current and future customers. -Analyze and resolve technical problems associated with established data networks. -Plan, test, recommend, and implement network, file server, and workstation hardware and software. -Provide up to date documentation of the established networks to include router/switch/server/application configurations and dependencies. -Assist in creating and maintaining troubleshooting, disaster recovery, and application support documentation. -Use tools and applications provided to monitor current network and server operations in a 24x7 environment. -Will be required to use the Ticket Tracking System to input, review, and receive work requests. Must document time worked on issue, any/all hardware repaired/ordered, and will need to update the Knowledge Base as to specifically identified fixes/repairs/installations. -Must serve as technical specialist in times of network problems, emergencies, and customer projects. -Conduct technical research on network/server/application upgrades and components to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current systems. -Must be able to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and recommend services such as directory structures, user security access, file and print, etc. -Provide advanced support of WAN and related hardware. -Administer all aspects of network infrastructure to include LAN, WLAN and storage network -Work with other team members from Applications and Desktop Support to establish, troubleshoot, recommend, connectivity options between systems, user environments, network security, and ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems. -Will be required to maintain security and confidentiality in regards to information processed, stored, and accessed on the network. -Must be able to work after hours and on-call to support the ongoing 24x7 operations of the established networks and services provided. Will be required to work with vendors to resolve complex network problems. Will also be required to travel to remote locations in support of hosted customer services. -May be required to complete other duties as assigned.
Bachelors of Science Degree in related field of assignment, or Diploma from an accredited University or Technical School. A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years experience in a technical position in support of a complex network/server/security/hosted application environment; or, a satisfactory combination of education and experience.
